:)

awwww

laura just asked me if koala bears are poisonous

oh no kawen, sorry to hear that :(

you had her a good long while though, right?

Thanks Cawa: Actually she had really good life... I got her almost 3 years ago,
and when they get to pet stores they are approx. 4-5 months old, so.... I'd say she was about 3+ when she died? Not bad!

Still sucks though... she was such a bitch too... a true fighter...
she killed a female that I originally placed with her in the same tank.
......and they say females can live peacefully with one another... lol

sucks.

Now I need to get a new gal :)

Aww, well yeah, she had a good long life then. Now you can go and shop for another! That's always fun, except when you see sick or dead ones that the store has not cared to do anything about. I'm sure the Petco you managed didn't have that problem, but I've been to two Petcos here in the last week and their bettas were worse off than Wal-Mart's :erk:

I've never heard that females can live together peacefully. I've heard they can live together without killing each other, but that it still creates a stressful environment for them nonetheless.

Anywho, have fun picking out a new one and post pics! After I deflower you >_>

Correct, correct and correct.

You do see a lot of dead ones at pet stores and that's a shame (c), really.
I hate that. I reflects the laziness of the employees and managers.

Their water need to be changed every week, and dead ones/ sick ones need to be removed every day.. I hate seeing dead ones there too :(

You're right: Female Bettas are aggressive, but they can live together and be fine ONLY IF: the tank is bigger than 2 gallons, and has a lot of plants/ hiding spots.. then they live like they do in nature: each claims a territory and they are fine.

(one gallon is too small... )

My female girl lived all by herself in a 3 gallon tank lol ... she loved her loneliness that's for sure :)

I'll get a new one and send you pics Cawa!!!

But we can deflower each other before and after I do that!! right??? right???

;)

Aye, I guess they could do ok if the tank was big enough. I've seen small tanks with more than one female betta in them and it really irritates me. Keeping one betta in a tiny container irritates me as well. Sure, in nature they are used to a low water level, but they have a lot of horizontal space to swim, which a cup or tiny bowl doesn't provide. They're obviously happier and healthier with room to swim, and therefore more fun to watch. Why don't people realize this Kawen, why?! Console me with deflowering NOW!

That's what I'm talking about. That tiny bowl is what I have a problem with, the larger one is fine.

What the hell is this? This is RETARDED.

^ AGREED!!!!

The bigger one on the picture is a gallon- and actually that's an ideal size for them. One gallon and up- but never below a gallon.
The bigger bowl is similar to what I have at home for two of my bettas actually. (the other 3 are all in a 1.5-2)
The main issue with smaller tanks is really the water quality that goes bad quicker in a small tank Vs. bigger tank. Another issue I have a problem with, is all those 'gimmick' shaped tanks make it REALLY hard to clean and maintain: so people by nature, get lazy with cleaning the tanks properly, which leads to shorter life span and death for bettas... It sucks!!
Plus, those skull-shapes, wall balls, glass bricks and all those stupid tanks will look dirtier with algae after one month.

The reason so many people are idiots about bettas is because pet stores don't 'educate' people who buy them. When I managed my store that was my biggest issue with some people who worked there....
a customer comes to the register with one male beta, one female betta and one tank: it's the cashier's responsibility to ask him: "sir, are you going to put them together?"
also: people who buy small tanks for the bettas: educate them... show them other options etc... you know????

Bettas are awesome... some people say: "oh its only a fish" but they are awesome fish with tones of personality (I know you know what I mean!)
and plus, they are so cool.

I remember this lady came to my store and kept buying bettas, one day I approached her and asked how many bettas she has.. she told me: "just one, because their life span is so short I keep buying more and more..."
I told her: "uh no... they actually live for about 2-3 years with proper care, what is your cleaning schedule / tank setup"?
She told me: They live in a flower vase ... I put flowers, and fish in the water... (most flowers that are sold- are toxic for fish...)
She said: "no one ever told me I can't do that!"

Cara, that woman must have bought... (and killed...) at least 15 fish if not more :cry::waah:
stupid, stupid stupid.
Her, and the employees who never told her...
