Synopsis:
Vermiculatus is Scald's most experimental, innovative and un-commercial project to date. The work consists of a singular album length instrumental track, the first section of which is performed by the band and is a complex composition of no repeated parts, followed by the closing section, which is an ambient reconstruction of the performance part. This is accompanied on the CD-rom track by a short animated film (Vermiculatus B1) with a further reconstructed soundtrack, an integral facet to the work and concept as a whole.

Scald are not known for being free with explanations behind their concepts but it can be stated that the on-going conceptual, metaphorical representations of the parasitic worm as psychological states has been further evolved from the ‘Nematoid' & ‘Headworm' material. Without the use of words or human voice these emotional and neurological conditions must be conveyed through the aural and visual stimulus of the Vermiculatus whole. It is not necessary to understand, only to be aware.

I really like those samples. I hear a HUGE Voivod influence, but that's always been there.

I'll review this in full for UM, if I ever find it for less than $18.

you mean the T.V.P. demo?
in spirit its kind of similar but a lot more serious,
its more black and agressive crust punk, d-beats, very little blasting
more thrash speed, there are no really slow and no quiet bits

just pummeling, simple by scald standards, on the opposite pole to vermiculatus, but still conceptual

the End along with Century Media + Dark horizon will be carrying the cd
but not till mid june

for future reference
Midhir has an exclusive distro deal with the end
so Fluke will be no problem either

J. I'm glad youre still into the old stuff
we need to raise enough money from sales to get the old stuff all anthologised (did I just make up a word?)
remastered of course
some of our early mastering is a bit meh
we'll probably just do it through vermitronic
and set up our own distro deals on it
