Awesome concert. That was my first time back to Graceland since the last time Opeth was there. They actually improved it a lot. The bar area was cool.
I haven't heard a lot of Moonspell, so I can't be to citical of them. I thought the first song was sweet, but the rest were just ok. Probably better if you listen to them more. I was suprised they weren't getting a bigger response. He was trying (name-drop label mates Nevermore). All and all I'd say they were good, but apparently not for everybody.
About a 35 min setup for DevilDriver (pick up the pace). Now I know everyone is not a huge fan of DD. They are just a completely different kind of music than Opeth. It all depends on your preferences. To each his own. I personally don't mind them. They are in no means my favorite, but the CD is ok. My friends , on the other hand, went to see DD. They had never heard Opeth before (they are more Slayer,Pantera,Sepultura,SJR,ect). DD had a lot of energy and they got the crowd into it. My friend Bo actually had the mic long enough to sing "I wish you were dead" on one song. Once again, they were good, but not for everybody.
Another wait and Opeth came out. Awesome. The whole place was filled and about 3/4 of the place knew the words to the songs. Everybody played perfect, even though Mikael was worried about fuck-ups. Lopez got some love for being back. Mikael was funny up there. Everything from playing a little of "Sweet Home Alabama", to calling Manowar cheesy. I hoped they would play Master's Apprentice, but I didn't expect it right off the bat. The rest of the setlist (although posted everywhere) was
Master's Apprentice
The Drapery Falls
The Moor
Windowpane
In My Time Of Need
April Ethereal
Deliverance
Blackwater Park
Demon Of The Fall
Great setlist, great performance, and my friends got experience a real metal band at it's best.
