At the last reamping session I took this mic with me that I bought years ago as vocal mic when we still rehearsed in our drummers basement.

Been having this thing for quite some time, and it doesn't get a lot of use these days so I figured I'd give it a shot.
I was pretty surprised how well it made I must say!
Pretty57-ish (sounds pretty similar in these mixes lol), but a bit smoother with stronger highmids and less highs.
Since it's not a whole lot cheaper then the 57 I wouldnt say it's an alternative to be buyed instead of the good ol' one, but it adds a different flavour to the sounds you can get
here's an example

chain was
TS > 6505+ > Randall RA412CV > e835s > Focusrite Saffire LE

HP/LP only, I had the LP set pretty low (Ola-ish) cause I placed it a bit too straight on the cone.

as reference to how the cab sounds, here's 2 other clips, one of the trustworthy 57&421 combo and one with all 3 mics.
Had to boost the highs a bit in the 57&421 clip and carve out a bit (1 db with a medium q) in the low mids, but apart from that it's HP/LP only.

57&421

835 was in the same spot as the 57.
They also blend together pretty nice

What do you think guys?

Sounds pretty good actually. I really like the 57&421 clip myself, though all 3 sounds pretty good too.
How are you placing the mic's? Seems to me it would be quite hard to get all 3 to work in phase with each other. You doing the pink noise & phase flip thing?

57 & 421 is the one I like most, I also dig the all 3 clip tho...highs have bit different structure in that one!

I made a little video for remembering the placing, but all of them were roughly around the edge of the dustcap. Will try to get some screens off the video...will be pretty blurry tho, light was shitty and I had to
use the nightmode to be able to see anything^^
Not using the pink noise&phase flip thing (no isolation headphones), usually for me it's record short samples to see how it sounds, listen, replace mic, record again, listen again, compare to first one...

Didn't have a lot of troube to get them in phase...I tried to place them at the same distance to the cab and that worked pretty well allready :)
Delayed the MD421 by 0.02ms cause it had a bit more highs like that...If my calculations are correct that's like placing the mic not even 1cm further away from the cab....it's allready pretty early/late, so Im not sure about that lol

Dude that Sennheiser e835s sounds very good, just a bit harsh in the highs, with a cut between 1k and 4khz and you are ready to go. Sounds much more smoother than 57&421.
