the rest of the song flows on almost perfectly now.. but this part is very hard for me to get clean at the speed alexi plays it, tell me what you prefer and feel more comfortable playing? its driving me nuts

That is how I play this lick and it sounds correct to me. The only way to reach the speed of Alexi is to obviously practice the lick over and over...it doesnt come overnight (unless you have shredding experience already under your belt). Just do it real slow and build up the speed..try playing to the guitar pro tab of it and slow down the tempo to what feels comfortable.
