sin city vs batman

Someone seems pretty down on a movie that they haven't even seen yet. :tickled:
hahaha... erm... Why are we laughing?. Yeah, like I said, I can't really criticise it yet. The advert makes it look kind of lame, I dunno why. And I wasn't saying this one sucks. I was saying its predecessors were garbage though (that's undeniable). I was also saying this one is not a comic book based movie. It's based on the film franchise.

You should read more comics before criticizing.
Well I read film reviews and previews, and they all say it isn't based on a comic book and is a new script, meant to be part of the Burton film ideas.

Doesn't the Batman: The Dark Knight have some flashbacks to his beginnings?
It still isnt a based on that comic if it doesnt acknowledge the flash back and 'begin middle and end' the way that comic does, or similarly. They are not claiming artistic license on "The Dark Knight".

Your ignorance is laughable. Do you really think that critics who review movies know anything about the original comics. Sure Burton took poetic license with the film. Burton has undoubtedly read more Batman comics than any of those critic frauds, and as I said in an earlier post: "This movie is closer to the storyline of the comics than any Batman movie prior to it". I never said it was an exact replica of any Batman comic series. As to the reply to Lillitu, Lillitu never said they based it on Dark Knight Returns, it was merely stated that there is flashbacks in the comic that gives history on Batman's beginnings.

I would check it out if it half the text wasn't out of the scrollers range... But if he says 'we created an atmosphere closer to the comics than anyone else so far', which is what I expect this will be about, then good for him. I've heard it many a time. Maybe they're trying to argue now that this is based on many seperate elements of the comic, and therefore is still based on the comic... but if they are doing this its because people took a distaste to the original statement that it was indeed a prequel to the Burton films.

Maybe I shouldn't have said reviews. More like journalism then. And think back. I uphold, and begun this line of argument because this cannot be the best comic book movie ever, as the comic book movie has quickly become popular a subgenre in the action/adventure catagory, and Sin City is the absolution in how to make a 'comic book' film. This film looks like a great action film to me, maybe it will be a better film, but it won't be a better comic book film. It's like saying Children of Bodom are a better Deathmetal band than Nile. Some may hold cob in higher regard, but it doesn't mean they're better at deathmetal.

Lillitu never said it was based on Dark Knight returns? Ok then... good... What the fuck is it based on then? You keep coming here and calling me ignorant because I havn't read the comics, but I do not here a title of a book or saga that this is based on? Why? Because I'm sure there isn't one and you merely cannot accept my point. Its based on something based on the comic, so of course there's going to be elements there. But if your mind cannot absorb what I'm saying it's your deficiency.

No, I did not say it was was an adaptation of The Dark Night. You said:

I didn't even think there even was a comic about batmans beginning.

To which I replied:

Doesn't the Batman: The Dark Knight have some flashbacks to his beginnings?

I wasn't stating that it was an adaptation of anything I was simply stating that there were official comics that that showed Batman's beginnings per your statement that you didnt' think there ever were any. I think you are getting your terms mixed up. To say a movie is an adaptation is to say that they took, in this instance, a complete story arc and adapted it into a film script. To say this is a movie based on comic is to say that you have taken fully fleshed comic characters and environments and created a movie about that. It does not have to follow any specific story arc from the comics although they often do. Sin City is an adaptation because they took parts of story arcs of The Yellow Bastard, The Big Fat Kill, The Long Goodbye and some other one I can't remember. Batman Begins is based on the Batman comics, but not adapted from any specific one. Therefore they do not need to claim artistic license from The Dark Knight, nor do they have to use your idea that they need to "acknowledge the flash back and 'begin middle and end' the way that comic do". It's based on, not adapted from and they can do whatever they want.

You can either like it or not, that's your opinion. Mine is that the trailers look amazing and I am eager to go see it.

Well I saw it tonight... and I liked it alot... but not as much as everyone else quite clearly.

@lillitu: I think you're being a tad pedantic. The terms I used arn't too important as to the point I was making... that this isn't the best adaptation ever, because it hasn't done what films like Sin City do.

There were some things about the film I really liked, like the inner turmoil, and the way he's not shown as entirely face. Some things I disliked... but to comment would be spoiling it. The action was very unfocused. It was that "Screw with your sense" style action, where I prefer to see choreography to an extent, not just clever editing and sound effects. But generally it was highly entertaining. I think it's the type of film I'll enjoy alot more the second time round.

Cock Chaos.
I'm glad this mature debate found such a sensible conclusion. When did your sister tell you her pet name for me? Although she calls me 'the chaos cock', as I like to rip it up hardcore style.

Sorry if my disagreeing with you on this fairly simple matter caused any animosity... I'd like to maintain that this was not intentional... However, you are a fucktard. So I don't care. Go blow your uncle you poseur.

I just saw Batman today. Not as good as Sin City, but still one of the best movies I've seen in a movie theater this year. It was much better than all the other batmans... Now I want to see War of the Worlds! Maybe Fantastic 4 too.......
