Slate Digital FG-X Mastering Processor

I'm not one to dish out glowing praise unless it's very much justified. This rarely happens. But this is quite possibly the best software plugin I've ever used. It adds instant depth, vibe, and punch to everything, makes some of the worst mixes I've been ever been handed sound almost golden (seriously.) It's absolutely going to change the way records are mastered ITB. This is the future.

Slate and Fabrice have officially raised the bar.

Am I the only one that can't bounce the material? I've tried bouncing, and the wav or mp3 doesn't have any slate fg-x effects on it.

I tried bouncing the same track with the default compressor on Logic, and it was fine. I'm using Logic Pro 8 on a Mac by the way.

same here with cubase 5

Is this going to make 'loud' sound better, or make everything louder but sound the same [ie. not Death Magnetic]? Can you really push it much past commercial levels?

I'm not so sure. I usually export my mixes at -18db and I have to push the gain knob all the way up to get to commercial levels at all. (I even boosted the maintrack -.-)

All of the mixes are clipping quite a bit, but in my opinion the FG-X sounds noticeably better.

Yeah, there are artifacts on the tom's in the beginning, a consequence of using rbass on them, if you didn't have ADD and got past the first 20 sec. it would improve...

anyway, I agree that the FG-X kills, it does wonderfull stuff to the transients, but 300$ is still to steep IMHO.

Whats about a special deal for the Sneapsters who own Trigger and all the Slate stuff?

That would be so cool.

+1...maybe it would get me to rethink me on getting a TC Electronics Finalizer..

Till now I'm digging the Slate plugin above the other ones you guys posted. This is "ok" headphones tho!!!!!
Tonight I'll take it to the test on my new genelecs...

How much time did it take to receive the demo license for you guys?
Haven't received anything yet...
