Couldn't they book it anywhere else? Harpo's is the venue that Scott Ian bitches about in OTHER cities, and Anthrax fans get the joke. It was described to a "T" in Infernal Combustion.

They go above and beyond the call of duty for Detroit level patheticness. They are guilty of crimes against all of humanity, and I will cast the first stone. I would sooner get rid of Harpo's than the Bush Administration. Wayne State is in Detroit, but shit never gets that bad there, or at the Fox Theater, or State Theater. Harpo's is a special case. They put the ghetto in metal, whether their white supremacist patrons would choose to admit it or not. Sure, I've been to out-of-state metal shows. There are places where metal draws crowds with articulate guys who wash their clothes and cute girls who still have all their teeth. This isn't about that. This is about a venue where you're afraid to use the men's room, because you don't dare piss in them. The the backsplash will corrode your penis, or cause pus-filled sores. The crowd always has at least one or two nazi skinheads, and a couple of undercover narcotics officers as well. I know this, because I saw a gunfight break out there once.

This is to say nothing of the storied history of Harpo's elegant parking facilities, where impressively intimidating locals (probably NOT employed by the venue) will offer you "protection" for your vehicle. They're known to stand at the entrance of the lot, brandishing crowbars, flashlights, and other blunt objects.

Back inside, the stage is 11 feet high, with no security on the floor. You have to crane your neck to see the band if you're standing up front. You can't leave unless you pay to get back in. They book as many bands as possible to open, and then make them PAY if they can't sell enough tickets to the show! If you sell enough tickets, you get to play longer. You pay to play!

At least they don't use videos of female mudwrestling videos on a projector screen to fill the time between bands.

I know I'll be there and I'm sure Chris will too, I don't see him missing Slayer. I havn't seen Slayer since the "Seasons" tour in Dayton. The crowd totally fucked that place up. The floor was ripped off in places exposing the ice, nothing like a mosh pit on slick ice, lol. I can't wait. It is going to be at Bogarts isn't it?
