Nothing real brutal about the weather here. It gets to be a bit more humid than I like though in the summer.

I had a professor once though that said "You know what kind of climate we have here? It's a Two/Too Climate! You know what that is? That means it's either too damned hot or too damned cold!!!"

ha i just meant that itt and pretty much every other thread, everyone talks about how awesome/wonderful/tr0o/grym/etc their own hometown/beer/car/masturbation habits/etc are.
just once i want to hear someone criticize themselves right off RC

Oh, and J., I've survived a Gulf Coast summer, that shitz weak brotha. It's humid and all, but hardly intolerable, even after a game of football. On the contrary, when my family members from Texas come here, they get OWNED by the altitude in about .5 seconds. I'd like to see you hippies survive a winter here.:p

tell that to all the heat stroke victims.

altitude shmaltitude. so your ears pop. big whoop

meh, and your oxygen carrying capacity is greatly diminished. kind of a problem.

err, technically im wrong. i guess i should say people at higher altitudes have a higher oxygen carrying capacity becuase their body has produced more hemoglobin from living in such a place with low oxygen content. ours wouldnt necessarily be "lower" if we went up there. glad i cleared this up.

what kinda altitude are we talking about here then? the smokies?
seriously, if you aint exercising in the altitude youre probably not gonna notice. me, however, i spent a week in denver and the whole time i couldnt stay awake and got nauseous after eating. meh, im weak.

Abraham Lincoln is actually a lich and he carries a +5 unholy greataxe of negative energy. Everytime someone rubs his nose on his monument he is forced to kill 17 negros on MLK blvd.

Its time to kill!!!

meh, ive been there too but couldnt tell you about the altitude.
do you go there to visit Focus on the Family and chat with Dr. James Dobson?

To be affected by altitude, you probably have to DO something while in that environment. I don't think most people walking down the street just collapse, but a lot of people get altitude sickness aka the things dorian described although often much worse. Much more likely to happen to skiers or other adventurers rather than people passing through who happen to stop and get a taco. Most people just get winded really easily and can't do a lot of strenuous activity until they become more adjusted to the environment. My cousin got it while skiing and I remember my Uncle having to stop playing football after about five minutes because he got hella tired. Weird stuff.

Oh, and hypothermia > heatstroke. Fucker.:p

Well hiking isn't exactly getting a taco though it's not like I'm jogging or anything. Though I know for certain a 2000 ft difference doesn't affect me in the slightest when it comes to real exercise.

Then again, these days I'm really out of shape. Perhaps I should be saying that 4 or more years ago when I was much more fit, the changes in altitude didn't affect me. :tickled:
