Having grown up here in Gothenburg, I'd be the extra tolerant one to this kind of music.
Soilwork:
before APP, quite lovely. I approved NBC, had some damn nice songs on it.
Then came FnF. Ummm, theres maybe like 2 pretty good songs on it. I can't really say anything else about it because there isnt anymore to say of it.
I heard STD a month or two ago, and it just sounded so.... empty.
They're a good band, but their music is in no way what it was before.
Its not the same feeling. Not that it had too much feeling in it, either.
I'm not saying it sucks, it just doesnt appeal any more.
And for In Flames....
I think too many people complain on them for their popularity. Sure, theres loads of kiddies going around with shirts of them, but hey, what do you do?
Their music has most of the time been enjoyable to me, even if they arent in any way my favorite band.
Lots of their stuff is nice, sure. I'm not too bothered with the new album, it has some decent songs, and isnt a pain to listen to, like some people say. Thats just a matter of taste.
just to sum it up, most people like the older albums of a band. if they cant handle the change, well, thats a whole other story.
cheers.
