The "proper" term would presumably be 'microphoned', so it should be mic'd. The apostrophe indicates the contraction of the word 'phone' bit - so leaving the 'e' in there is technically wrong. It really makes fuck all difference though, as long as you consistently uses the same variant everyone knows what you mean.

Steve

But why would the apostrophe have to eliminate "phone" and not "phon"? It's not like you have to delete full words to make contractions (e.g. don't just has the "o" dropped from "not") And yes, I fully acknowledge I'm nitpicking for no good reason, but hey, it's fun :D

Personally I spell it mic'd, but the proper grammer form is miked, who really cares though, we're audio engineers not english majors

"Miked" sounds like you just recreated a faux-pas mic placement originally done by someone called "Mike"...

"Miced" sounds like you just attacked the cab by throwing rodents at it...

"Mic'd" to me sounds like the way it should be, whether its grammatically correct or not... i mean we now live in a world where LOL exists in the dictionary...

give it to mikey, he'll eat anything! showing my age with that joke.
