Some of you may remember me from the forums from a while back, but that's fairly irrelevent. Recently my computer got wiped and I need to rebuild my entire music collection, I've been out of touch with the metal scene for a while, but I still love it. With this is mind. I want you to list me your top 10:
Brutal / Slam Death
Old School Death
Depressive Black Metal
Trad Doom
Sludge
Thrash
(any other metal sub-genres you feel like adding)
albums of all time that I may not have heard

I was pretty into all these genres at some point, so try and think out side of the box. For example, don't bother listing a load of Morbid Angel, Slayer, Xasthur and Electric Wizard albums. Try and think of some classics / must hears I may have overlooked or forgotten about. Other than that go nuts. Feel free to list some from other genres too, those were just the first that popped into my head. I realise there are a lot of 'What are your top 10 x albums of all time lists', but I feel this is sufficiently different, and frankly I just want help rebuilding my library.

So, help an old forum member out? (and spark a healthy debate while yer at it)

As an extra incentive, the person I feel provides the best lists, I will genuinely paypal £1.75 ($2.71)

If you actually buy your music you won't lose your collection due to a computer.

If you actually buy your music you won't lose your collection due to a computer.

Unless you buy CDs and rip them to your computer, then lose the CDs. I lost a load of old music thanks to that. After I ripped everything I got rid of the physical media in various ways.

It's why I use MOG now. I never worry about anything.

Abscess - Seminal Vampires and Maggot Men (Noisy Shit Fuck)
Eyehategod - Take as Needed for Pain (Sludge)

How can you not know what you had? I keep my music in one huge folder and have a program that saves out a list of all the files in that folder. That way if I ever do lose it somehow, I know exactly what songs I had. Not everyone does that of course but, you sound like you don't remember in the slightest :- /

Seriously. It's an addicition though. I used to download only and once I started buying it spiraled totally out of control. I try and justify it to myself by saying my cds have taken place of drugs and/or alcohol.

Fuck, I really don't buy anything at all anymore. My entire collection is gone from my son's mom and shit, so I really don't even want to bother buying those 800+ CDs I had on top of everything else I'd want. I'm still slowly rebuilding a shirt collection again. I replaced my cd buying with drugs for awhile, though haha...

I miss my CDs...

I've had to curtail my spending of monies towards cds. Now that I make a little more money yearly now, I can kinda buy a little more every month. I do need to pare back on my collection and get rid of 200 or so CDs, but it will be really tough to do that. My collection is near 700 and it's getting hard to store all of them in my tiny apartment.

If you decide to sell some of them, let me know. I might actually consider buying some...My income is much better than it ever has been (because I work godamn inhuman hours) so I can afford things I want now haha. I spend alot on supplements for working out though haha.
