My favorite are SH2 and SH4.Not many people seem to like SH4 but I liked it a lot.

I like the first 3, 2 definitely being my favorite. I did not like the room (four, in fact I couldn't' get through it), and I have not played the PS3 one all the way through yet.

SH5 is the worst. It´s a shame because it has a better gameplay, better monsters design and better graphics, but the story, characters and specially puzzles are so incredibly dumb. We called the main character "The Realizer". Everytime we clicked on an object for him to inspect he was like "oh, it´s a square block. I wonder if it fits somewhere in this room".

SH: Shattered memories was okay too, a lot better than Homecoming.

i never played any of these, but soon for sure, got way too much to play right now, but yeah

and i heard silent hill homecoming is about as gaming gets to david lynch movies, in which case, i must MUST MUST MUSTTTTTTTTTT play it, proper survival horror game or not, i must play it
