from a point it does look a bit silly yeah, but there are some times when I just can't help it. not always of course, it also depends on the music
sometimes I just say to myself 'now you just stay here doing nothing' or 'now I'm not in the mood of even going in' but than the gig starts and it just grabs me and I can no longer control myself

about the neck yeah, the first time was like that festival I mentioned before something like "ouch"
maybe it is a skill that has to be learned, don't know...
when I was younger I also had silly habits of looking at ppl, trying to state the main differences between their movements, and there were a number of 'types' of headbanging and showing and so on in my 'discoveries'

haha I love the old anathema dvd the girl at the very front with the massive hawk nose makes me laugh every time. I havent got very long hair so I just look like a pleb headbanging I prefer to do the one two step dance like bruce springsteen. It works to all kind of music.
