I like classical music, especially Bartok, Beethoven, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky. I also like folk music, as long as it's not that carefully sanded-down crap called New Age. Some of the old country music is great, especially Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels and the like, but that new stuff is just pop with slide guitar. I'm not too much into blues but I have liking for Robert Johnson. I've recently gotten into exotic instruments ( well, exotic for the Western Hemisphere), such as the Turkish saz.

I agree wi' your comment in large part, except that I'm no' accustomed to this "New Age" folk you speak of. Scottish and Irish folk are what I've grown up playing an' stuff, so that speaks for itself (though I do love the Swedish folk I've heard as well).
Love blues, especially the more recent (when compared to the popular Delta blues players) chaps such as Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn etc.
Jazz can be great, but I generally can't stand much in the way o' modern jazz. I appreciate it's highly intricate an' the players are extremely adept, but it jist hurts my ears, frankly.
Some "Avante Garde" stuff such as Dead Can Dance (who are incredible, an' more Rennaisance than any'hing else for me) can be sublime. Rock, classical, Baroque, Romantic, some country, occasional (usually old school) hip hop etc. yadda yadda words words...
