new album is pretty good; i actually like the more melodic songs like this. it's definitely not melodic death metal but for a modern rock/melodic metal album it's pretty damn good. I actually really like the bonus track too, that's one of my favorite along with let this river flow and night comes clean.

I still listen to NBC and FNF for the nostalgia factor. It's amazing how far we've come since 2002...if either of those albums came out today I probably wouldn't buy them. At that time, however, I really dug them. NBC reminds me of Korea and Japan and FNF reminds me of the first six months of my tour in Italy. It was such a crazy time, I almost can't believe I did half the things I did.

soilwork is up there with dark tranquility as one of the most over rated bands ever. that song just plain sucks...those riffs are so weak. even the early soilwork, which is indeed much better, still offers nothing special.

Scar Symmetry may be even worse than Soilwork.

First half of Pitch Black Progress is awesome.. otherwise Scar Symmerty are kind of boring, but still better than Soilwork.

Same goes for Dark Tranq... Fiction was good - otherwise they are... meh...

If my opinion accounts for anything (which it should do, since it is correct)

DT are indeed superior to most nowadays melodeath, which isn't saying much. To their credit, they also have one of maybe two or three post 1996 melodeath albums that rule (The Gallery, of course).
