Your reccomendation ?

Yeah, Peter Wichers made Soilwork IMO... glad I got to see them with him still on guitar.

Atleast we'll get to hear his work on WD's solo project too.

Edit: And to note, Wichers was on the last 2 albums (well, I know he was on Figure Number Five, maybe not Stabbing the Drama, both which were awful compared to The Chainheart Machine), it just seemed like he didn't care... and then left the band eventually.

Bjorn Strid's side project Terror 2000 is excellent (I think one of the guys from Darkane is in it too).
Dimension Zero with Jesper Stromblad and Joakim Gothberg is pretty brutal thrash metal but it's also very melodic.
Old Soilwork is amazing. Steelbath Suicide and Chainheart Machine are essential. The guitar work just simply kicks ass.
Everything from Dark Tranquillity is a must have. If you're going to get just one, make it The Gallery for the song Punish My Heaven alone. That is probably one of the best melo-death songs ever.
Crimson 1 and 2 from Edge Of Sanity are also essential. Amazing prog/melo-death.
Storm Of The Light's Bane and the Somberlain from Dissection are both amazing.
Kalmah from Finland. They are more like the neo-classical Finnish melodic death but they are great. Get Swamplord. There are a lot of folkish melodies and the song Hades is more than worth the price of the CD.
Loch Vostok are like a mix of older Soilwork with Evergrey. Their new album, Destruction Time Again!, is excellent.
Arch Enemy is also really good. A lot of people bash them, but you cannot deny that their first three albums were really amazing thrash/melo-death albums.

Hey Guru, folks...

Most of the bands I would suggest are already listed, but these:

Amorphis - one of the best outfits from Finland (IMO), carving out some very folkish sounds now; their latest work - Eclipse - is awesome.

Hypocrisy - well, needless to say anything about these guys. For the style mentioned would lack the cleaner vocals, though.

Daring now to be kicked off the forum, I must point you my own band, Blakk Market - a lot of people have compared us to Dark Tranquillity so far...

See ya, fellas. :headbang:

Amon Amarth, Dismember, Demonoid, Centinex, Scar Symmetry, Enforsakne, Arsis, Wehrwolfe and a lot more.

I just picked up ...

The Scar Symmetry stuff and IM REALLY LOVING IT !!! im amazed i havent cheked them out before. They are EXACTLY what im into ... The Clean VOX with the kick ass Growl vocals and AMAZING GUITAR PLAYING !!!

Wow ... im really impressed with them !!!!

Im not too into the Darkane stuff. Its ok the music is good but something about the vocals is rubbing me wrong.

Im a big Arch Enemy fan .. well more specifically Mike Amott, his stuff has always been amazing .. I really feel he made Carcass the band it was in the Heartwork days everything before that was good but not Heart Work caliber.

I prefer singers where you can understand them. The dude from LoG is one of those singers that growls but i love it you can understand him. Same with Jeff Walker from Carcass. Vocalists like that really like, they are Growly but you can understand them .... to me thats talent.
