Dreadful
When Man& Machine Collide
Soilwork's first 4 albums (and a little of the 5th) is still some of the best favorite melodic death to listen to. I just can't fathom when someone says their old stuff is "generic" or "boring" (like a few people say when a Soilwork thread pops up here and there)...there were so many good riffs, melodies and the solos were well written. The cool thing about Soilwork is that you don't have to be a fan of shred-lead guitar to like them cause' all their solos were well written and memorable yet had those flashy techniques that were short enough to be interesting. When it's metal and the attitude and feel is the "rising above" all opposition who wouldn't want their favorite band to launch into a passage of them shredding and showcasing their talent?
I honestly can't remember more than 2 songs from the past 3 albums...and I've listened to them here and there, trying to get into them. Let this river flow and crestfallen are the only ones that come to mind. It's ironic how they change their direction to make more money yet most of the shit is so fuckin boring...even for a polished compromised song. People still buy it though so it can't be that ironic...it's weird, I don't think I'd be able to live with myself saying my last 3 albums were some of the best material...even if I was supposed to say it to market the album.
