Man, I don't know. I want to see it because I never got to check it out in the theaters but I just think it'll be a nail in the coffin to my slowly deteriorating like for Metallica...I only recently admitted to myself that pretty much everything after Justice has been a "suckfest" of sorts....(Although I will never admit this about KISS! haha) but I really do wanna see the Mustaine moments and I think it'd be cool to see them doing stuff outside of music like surfing and hot rodding, etc. So I don't know...maybe I'll wait for a used copy??? Whatta y'all think?

I saw it in the theater. I'm not the biggest Metallica fan (but worship the old stuff like all), and it was good. Really good. Ironically enough, I already was a fan of the flim makers. They made a couple other documentaries which were fantastic; Paradise Lost (about the West Memphis 3 murders), and Brothers Keeper (about a murder 'mystery' in upstate New York). I dug the shit out of both, back when they came out, and Metallica provided the soundtrack for Paradise Lost, incidentally. The teens who are accused of the murders are big Metallica fans, and the music in the background is just plain eerie when they show the murder scene and stuff (it's in rural Arkansas). Plus, they use only odd passages like stuff from Orion, it's stunning.

Anyway, when I heard it was these guys who had made the movie, I ran right out and saw it. If you can be a bit objective about it.....just forget your feelings on Metallica, it's a VERY interesting view into the life of a big ass rockband....that is falling apart. Warts and all it certainly is. And from a purely "interesting" point, regardless of the music you like, I think you all might get a kick out if it. It's a REAL documentary, for what it's worth.

The release promises lots of extras, though I will rent instead of buy.

I have bought this DVD. Very very interesting. I would like to think that many of you guys here are very open minded and will apprectiation the film because it's 3 guys (4 if you count Bob) have ripped apart relationships and molding back together. Lars comes of as a big asshole. I don't know him personally, but from the movie I would say asshole and at times close minded. I am 2 hours into the DVD and I am really digging this documentary. Like the band or not, you will find it very interesting. That's my short review.

I was a huge Metallica fan back in the day, and almost hate them now. I'm sure I'd enjoy the film, particularly watching them fall apart. I'd like to know what transpired when heaven went to hell. I really am anxious to see it, but like I said, I'm not gonna spend money it. If you are correct, Iced, and Blockbuster doesn't stock it, then I will have to wait for one of my friends to buy it. I'm sure someone I know will.

If you are 2 hours into it and not done yet, how long does it last?
