Someone please reccomend me some Ulver, Bathory, and Burzum

I'm trying to broaden my horizons with Black Metal. Most people tell me "Fuck you, buddy, you can't like Black Metal if you haven't heard a ton of Burzum" and even though they are slightly retarted, it makes me think that I should invest in purchasing some of it if its that damn good.

Pretty much my Black Metal has been limited to
-Emperor
-Darkthrone
-Dissection (sure, its black metal)
-Noctuary
-Immortal

and things like that. I'd like to get into bands like Bathory, Burzum, and Ulver (especially Ulver)... older stuff.... I've heard a little of each, and I've loved it. Lets say hypothetically I only have enough cash to get one or two albums by each band. Which are the best for each one, and whats good to start off with.
-Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For Bathory get "Under The Sign Of The Black Mark" and for Burzum I'd go with "Hvist Lyset Tar Oss".

They're not bad, but not as good as his viking "trilogy" (Being "Blood, Fire, Death", "Hammerheart" and "Twilight of the Gods")

Leviathan's latest while good, I dont think its the best to recommend.

Ulver - Nattens Madrigal - I prefer its extreme buzzing-ness and melodic-ness over Bergtatt... I didnt think Bergtatt was as melodic or as interesting.

Burzum - Hvis - Great choice. I still stick by any recommendation of Burzum/Aske tho, maybe download a track from each and see what u like.

Nordland I and II sound kinda folk-ish to me. Not quite the same type of metal. But still enjoyable to listen to.

What about trying some Enslaved if you have not already done so, they are kinda similar to Emperor and the metal stuff of Ulver. Try the albums: Vikingligr Veldi or Frost.

Hopefully, that helps you make a more informed decision when you pick which albums you want.

Nordland I & II don't have the same special old and true feeling like Hammerheart but are both excellent! Especially Nordland II is awesome!!!!
