I doubt it's the Evangelists. See "George Bush" and his amazing ability to speak with God while claiming that his ridiculous actions are patriotic. Good quote though. If you look into it enough, you'll find that the Bush regime is somehow beginning to resemble Nazi rise in Germany, with both resulting from fear allowing people to give up their rights. At least Hitler appeared to be semi-intelligent; Bush is just endearingly stupid.

yea its easy to notice that bush takes advantage of the american people and it is almost to a fascist point but people have to realize that we're still free to do what we please under the law (which is just one of those deals where the law is your fascism)

bush doesnt control what we think and what we say and honestly i think we should take someone to trial. hitler was only intelligent because he won the hearts of the people. if bush had the hearts of us we might be thinking a different way too.

Not quite. No one can control what you think; they can only punish you for what you say or do. Although the government may not be taking advantage of their ability to do this under the law, it does not mean that they cannot. If you take into account all of the rights revoked in the "Patriot Act," and how much we fail to follow the Constitution by discriminating against particular groups, you cannot safely say that you will continue to have those rights in the future, and this is where the problem lies. And with our government (and most) you only have the freedom to do and say what you please when it is in close enough alignment with what they perceive to be acceptable. True, the country would probably be thinking a different way if Bush was able to evoke emotions and persaude people in a way that Hitler did.
