something that sounds like Danzig's "I Luciferi"

Dark, cultish, bluesy, traditional metal. I Luciferi is evil as fuck without resorting to any instrumental or vocal extremes. It's gloomy without being overly atmospheric or melodic. It has a great blend of blues riffs and dark riffs.

Any recs?

I'd like to avoid goth and doom metal, but if it's goth that's not too wimpy, or doom that's not too slow and murky, I might be okay with it.

Personally I prefer the older Danzig albums with John Christ on guitar.

Yeah, they're pretty good - especially Lucifuge - although they don't really stand out much from standard hard rock. I Luciferi has a pretty unique vibe, I'd say. I like the crunchiness and the whine in the guitars - it sounds very hellish.

I don't think there really is anything quite like Danzig...or The Misfits, for that matter.
