What does everyone use? My Norton AV is about to expire (good riddance!) and I am going to replace it with something not NAV. Suggestions for stuff that won't consume tons of resources or think absolutely everything is a security risk?

I did some homework when I was looking to replace ZoneAlarm with another full internet security suite, and settled on Kaspersky's offering because of its apparent low-resource hogging, and it's been working great!

Kaspersky is a fantastic scanner, but it tends to find pretty much everything as Spyware, including every other virus scanner/anti-spyware program.

I use AVG, but the new version uses a shedload of resources - there's like 5 processes related to it, each using between 10-50Mb... grr.

F-Secure, detects everything from viruses to adware in realtime.
It uses its own engine AND kaspersky's, and it does NOT drag down the system as much as Norton and AVG.
Im very picky about that part, since im using my computer as both a gaming and musicmachine.

im currently using spybot and avg, but only when i choose to, i tend not to use them, however i seem to have had my comp infected with a few trojans and virtumonde files that are proving a bitch to remove :(

Yeah, I've tried AVG a few times, and infected my computer with viruses on purpose... It found every single one of them, but couldn't remove them. o,0

Yeah dude, I looked around for awhile at all the free options, but between all the reports of crashes and incompatibilities between them I just paid the $80 for a full Internet Security Suite (Kaspersky), and am glad I did! Along with that I use SuperAntiSpyware (which apparently has usurped Spybot as the best) Spyware Blaster, and A2 (A-squared, it's a trojan scanner)

I manage a f-secure central server and around 500 machines company wide so have f-secure corporate free, *cough*. And i still prefer my AVG and pctools firewall setup at home :)

Seriously dude? o,0
As ive said before: Ive never managed to get AVG to remove even the simplest viruses(Free version that is.), but F-Secure can wipe anything away, and it even uses less ram & cpu then avg!

Btw, my dad used to be a "spokesman" for f-secure here in sweden(Not anymore though.), so my opinion might be a bit biased, but I have given most AV-softwares a fair chance, and the only good softwares ive found is F-secure, Kaspersky and NOD32.
And a tip to all of you: STAY AWAY FROM PANDA!
Id rather have a buttload of trojandownloaders then Panda AV!

Its all down to preference at the end of the day really i've found mate. I grew up on avg so thats probbaly why. However... The latest version of AVG has turned into a bit of a bloater so my back may turn on them in the coming months, slows my boot down by a couple of seconds longer than it used to.
