Phalanx (Super NES)


If you ended up on the cover of an average SNES shooter for no readily apparent reason, you’d look pretty surprised too. Legend has it that the publishers of this game wanted Phalanx to "stand out" when placed alongside the myriad of other generic space shoot-'em-ups available for the Super Nintendo. Well, if that’s true, they certainly succeeded.

DRAMATIC RE-ENACTMENT

Publisher: I’m having trouble coming up with ideas for this Phalanx packaging. Say, let’s play a word association game: I say a word, and you tell me the first thought that pops into your head.

Secretary: OK!

Publisher: Kitten.

Secretary: Cute!

Publisher: Futuristic space shooter.

Secretary: Wizened old hillbilly strumming on a banjo!

Publisher: THAT’S IT! YOU’RE BRILLIANT!
