stefan86's offtopic random retard thread - post away!

Sounds good :)

people tend to dismiss them because they kinda created trends back in the day, growls vs clean vocal, yep, that was ff's vocalist burton in 1991 that started it all, but in those days they were a deathmetal/grindcore band... the machine-like riffs along with the double bass as one, also ff in 1991... nu metal bands in their prime always named ff as one of their biggest influences... and so on, the typical "I'm too metal to listen to this"-like guy thinks FF is the kind of band that plays mainstream music and that the guitar player just use the lowest string of the guitar... but then you know that guy haven't even listened to the band and is actually one of those metal smartasses :)

Yeah I see, I knew FF before, maybe 3-4 years ago. I always ignored it when someone posted about them because I remembered them as some kind of Slipknot/Disturbed scheisse, so I totally forgot about them but now I thought yeah whatever and listened to that video, neat stuff :)

TRUE !

FF's "dark" era, when their started to be hated for some people, came with a gold album actually, Obsolete, making the transition from hardcore-like death metal to more industrial mid-paced groove metal, then Digimortal was released and it sounded quite close to Nu Metal, that was when their went downhill, then the band got disbanded, then a whole soap opera started, the band did a proper come back with Archetype but went to a limb once again with Transgression, then disbanded once again just to reborn with mexican hero Dino Cazares back in the guitars, SYL rhythmic base Byron and Gene and one hell of an album with a concept of USA and their Fear Campaing, to me, that's just genius... all of this with Burton being the main man in everything that has happened.

that's true, FF is a "love it or hate it" band... what I like about them even more than the music is the concept of their albums, being mostly the man vs. machine theme yet in their last one they went against the US goverment and the new world order, just look at the song titles, fear campaing, controlled demolition, designing the enemy, christploitation... ace! I was waiting for a band to come out with something like this and they did it :D
