cheap? well, kinda, is just a room, usually located in big houses or apartments with other 3 or 4 people living there already... a small apartment would cost something like 500 euros plus one month deposit extra. that's spain at least, dunno about renting full apartments in portugal.

the apartment I had in spain was really nice and it cost me 600 euros, only for the winter tho, in summer I had to move to a room at some other place cause the owner of the apartment used to rent it to random tourists for 1800 euros a month -.-

I guess he asked for portugal, I have been there... rent is something like 250/300 euros for a nice room in the city with all the most basic things included (water, internet, penis, etc).
