hmmm new opeth song sounds pretty much like opeth to me. basicly like all the parts in opeth songs that dont have metal parts. reminds me a lot of watershed actually, with a little of the first half of BWP in it.


i think opeth fans are becoming more and more retarded. just another mass of "never change" fans who crave the same thing over and over. in 10 years these people will be complaining about "the kids today" and "the awful music they listen to".

that being said, this song is pretty boring on the first listen. i was hoping for a stronger departure from traditional opeth. hopefully the rest of the album is different

It sounds like watershed stuff, and its not as interesting and diverse as old Opeth. Thats hardly moving forward is it?
Well, maybe simplifying snogs is moving forward, but it wont keep my interest very long if its going to be like this.

It's not as produced as Watershed and Ghost Reveries, the drums are a bit dry, the kick is not methul at all, it's shit actually imo, the guitars are kinda meh.. But it sounds very nice as a mix, everything is clear, things cutting through the mix like they should, it changes dynamically and in space, it's good, I like it a lot, but a methul kick would have made it even better haha.

opeth became sadly in yet another wank fest for prog wankers that think they're better than everyone else for listening to fancy music yet it's just that, fancy music, not because of that better than, lets say, shit factory... maybe in front of a jazzy crowd this song would work but most guys going to opeth gigs like their death metal songs and seeing this after a song like serenity painted death must be boring as hell... the band will have to work in another kind of setlist otherwise half show will be quite soporific, to say the least... growls or clean voices, I don't really care, this song just build up towards nothing, hence I find it boring.

I don't like Opeth and I like this song but they don't "master" this style like Jewnas said...I like some BWP thou

Thats how opeth should sound, perfect blend of clean/distored guitars
with an actual distortion and not the jimi hendrix crap of the latest album
together with a good mix between clean and growled vocs.
Also not the crap make four 3min songs and play em after eachother
junk they put out today
But rather a long song which actually flows really good.
