Yeah I miss the activity of this board. I guess people have a "real life" to worry about. I seriously met some very cool people here though. The Desolatahs (you know, that hip hop band with the swede gangstas), the Canadian Invasion (Niki, Emeticgore even though some didn't like him), Scavneck, Seth Rogan's stunt double and his homosexual friend with the same name, Qth, Bastardsonofgod, Nanain, Maja, Dusty Peterson (My fellow Horror junkie), Fleshmountain (aka wandering taco), Sexwind, even Powerblade and Tumn were amusing. That's not even counting all you newest people that are still here so I don't need to name you (such as the gentleman that posted above me), and the ones I know I forgot but don't have time to think of everyone.
Good times guys, I am saddened by the prospect of this board closing
Does anyone know if Katatonia ever gave an explanation for their forum closing? Perhaps they wish to move the forum to their site like Opeth did? I can't imagine it has anything to do with finances since Katatonia is more successful than many bands on UM.

All I know is that metal ages just said that the board was closing due to the bands request. Paradise Lost did the same move as well. I joined an unofficial PL forum just as I did the Opeth one.
Does anyone think that this one will be next?
I am being honest we need a back up forum just in case the plug gets pulled on this one.

I guess the bands see no use to pay for forums when they can have free facebook-pages. Sad really, facebook is a spamfest when it comes to bands.

And yes this thread would be a major casualty, I think this is the most posted thread on UM besides general shit. Also, I was under the impression Opethforum.com was official, I never spent any time there I just assumed that Opeth wanted more control over their forum so they took over.

hey what can I say I like you people have not met in real life. But you guys are awesome! If I have to recycle drink cans I will come to Europe gotta check out that viking style restaurant I've heard about. If this board goes next its been one hell of a ride and I have loved every minute of it.
We do have that facebook group still if I recall correctly lets get active on it.

dunno, we'll see about that yeah, so many memories in this thread it's ridiculous
i mean, try jumping back like 1000 pages and tell me you don't get nostalgic.no, opethforum.com is unofficial, the um forum closed because the band got tired of all the trolls. i think the main reason was because someone made a joke about some bass player dying and it was one of åkerfeldt's friends or something.

No I'm kinda doing my own thing now. I have one 11 minute song written, which I should be recording with one of my buddies soon. I will definitely post it when it's finished!
