stefan86's offtopic random retard thread - post away!

The higher I go the harder it hits my voice. Usually lows and mids I can growl for almost as long as I want, but if I start going into really high stuff it starts to take a toll, especially playing shows where you can't take much of a break. I mostly refrain from using higher growls unless it is just for short sections. Never an entire song.

I can do pretty low growls, but those ultra low could be as "damaging" as high ones. Luckly, the current style of growl is not very harmful, the high growls may not sound amazing, because its more like a shreek, but if it wont do anything to my normal growl I dont care tbh.

I must train my black metal vocals because i loved doing them but it's hard and i still havent figured them out yet:

Mine are half-acceptable but not quite there with Mr.Jonas frostbitten northern vocal cords. This is about as high as I will go most of the time, any higher and I start to feel it after about 30 mins. Kinda old sloppy demo quality but it's literally the only Black Metal type recording I have of myself.

The stupid thing is the only part I really like is at the last 50 seconds and it's not even black metal vocals. Fail .

Fuck yeah more black metal! :kickass:

I am sorry but polish guys black metal sounds more necro than you Caleb :)

My vocals are really loud. I use lots of power to just scream it out and usually I get a headache after recording and if I really push myself, like when recording Storm of Black Salvation, I have blood taste in my mouth afterwards.

More necro, but I'm more mainstream! Untrvv as fuck!

My growls are pretty loud too, but I don't I've ever given myself a headache without some other factor involved like a hangover. Or tasted blood, which is pretty metal but sounds kind of dangerous. My old neighbours heard the recording of Sleepwalkers EP vocals and they were in a different house in their living room, I was pretty proud of that.

I fucking miss having a place where I can be loud and do more than speak a few words a day :(.

Thats true I often was like "damn, im starting to sound like shit because of this car" and then "Ok, nvm, im satisfied".

I also wonder how many times I was spotted by someone in the car doing strange faces and screaming funnt things. But im still not arrested so thats fine.

I have moticed other drivers staring at me so I guess they have heard me screaming when driving past them.

Here I am barely able to play the guitar but you fuckers are all making songs

Ahh I feel the need to correct you there, I did not write or play the music in my post. I just did the vocals. It was just a one-off, for shits song.

I did not mean to imply I wrote the entire song it was just the only black metalish vocal recording I had. It's kind of old now.

Yeah I have had a few experiences thinking "well this is an awkward stop sign...".

It's still an optimal practice space.

Sure is! Gonna have time to warm up my voice in the car today as I am going over to Gurras place to record a Bathory cover with Wolfcross for an upcoming Bathory tribute album! Looks like my Wolfcross will be the first to appear on an official release after all hehe :)

People are recording their shit and I dont have a patience to record one album for 3 years
But I recorded one demo version of song and im about to finish recording a cover, so ive got that going for me. Album should "hit the stores" in 2030.
