stefan86's offtopic random retard thread - post away!

my father went to america to see a nascar race.

he said people at nascar races really and truly believe in donald trump

i feel like this is a movie where in the end he gets beat by a teenager and a monkey

Yeah, that sort of crowd goes for guys like Trump. My father is a drag racer and has talked about how he would vote for Trump for years. Fortunately, many in that group do not vote, my father included.

As for Nascar and the presidential election, Ben Carson scored the coveted Richard Petty endorsement

I also believe in Donald Trump :)

He exists!!!

I will never be able to understand how Americans don't vote. What was the turn out last time? 35%? It's sad how the majority cares so little for how their country is run

The perfect system would be passing some kind of exam that would give you voting rights. Too many clueless people believing in every shit they see on internet or tv ruining countries.

40% of canada doesnt vote

its actually so big that if all non voters made their own party they would win by a landslide lol

I made a bit of a rant about that yesterday... Our current government is going in a horrible direction and almost 70% of Canadians want Harper out at all costs, but because there is a 3 party tie right now that ~70% is split two ways, and a lot of those people will not show up at the polls. Thus we will likely end up with another term of tax cuts for rich, funding war and US style government. Canada is not about sticking our military into other countries and fucking shit up.

When you have situations like the Canadian and US voter turn out, it's time to make voting part of a citizen's civic duties. Mandatory. There is no excuse for the vocal minority to be in power just because younger more progressive people can't be bothered to show up while the older and loyal conservatives always make sure they get their way so they can keep control of the things they don't like..

:)

^Couldn't've said it better myself. There needs to be an Election Day holiday or something, where everyone gets off work early/meets late, so that they have time to vote if that is what their problem is...

Voter turnout was 86% in Denmark in the last election just a few months ago... I don't know if this can be defined as cultural differences? Either way, it's pretty infuriating

no one cares tho cause we so fuckin friendly

We are friendly you asshole!

The sad part is that in Canada you are legally allowed to take a limited time off work to vote. It's not considered a holiday so it's not paid, but if I lived in an area where voting time was limited my workplace cannot penalize me for that time off. It's a step below an actual holiday but if people cared they would use it in the cases where it is necessary. If we had a government that actually wanted the vast majority to vote they might consider creating an Election day holiday, but that would shut down business and enable people, which are two things they do not like... The opposition parties have swayed a bit on the topic of mandatory voting and an election day holiday, but it would be amazing. I wish my country had passion about the direction of their government like Scandinavia and northern Europe...

^Just because they can't legally penalize workers doesn't mean they won't do it anyway :p Some companies are so damn ruthless - just look at that whole outrage over Amazon about a month ago, for example... Anyway, at least you guys don't have of that fucking retarded gerrymandering that the US likes to do. I have trouble understanding how nobody is doing anything about it :erk:
