stefan86's offtopic random retard thread - post away!

That's something we call infrastructure. US and Canada don't believe in upgrading it because war and corporate tax cuts and unregulated markets. I get like 25% of that speed and I bet I pay 3 times more for it. :)

Denmark has basically the exact same system as Sweden, and I get this just north of the capital:

But yeah I probably pay a lot less than you do :p

Im paying approx 50 euro for that speed, but another isp in the same net is offering same speed for around 40 euro.
prolly gonna change to that one.
could even get 1000mbit/100mbit if i want, but is expensive (like 80 euro) and i really dont see any reason for it.
downloading@ 32-33mb/sec atm seems enough :)

Thing im most happy about though is the stability/peering of my interwebs, everything is run over local ethernet cabling in the
apartments here down to a switch in the basement which connects to the optical fibre network of stockholm.
(Very common way to install interwebs in apartment complexes here in swedün)

Also a custom router built around an industrial intel mini-itx atom board also helps, running FreeBSD (pfsense)
It only goes down if i want it too, in comparison to the usual netgear/dlink/tplink etc junk which crashes 24/7.

So very low latency everywhere, i can get under 100ms to the us, and the world of warcraft servers(nerdgasm)
pings@about 22-24ms(france).
