I dispute this. If you consider the hypothesis from a purely evolutionary perspective the egg must have come first because the chicken ancestor layed an egg that hatched the first Gallus gallus. When cosidering the proteomics approach the egg containing the OC-17 was of course formed in a chicken. BUT Gallus gallus did not spontaneously appear from the ether, ergo the proto-chicken layed the egg that became Gallus gallus.

Yes the egg came first, but the chicken came before the chicken egg because before it was a chicken (although most likely in an egg) it wasn't a chicken that gave birth to that egg (dinosauruses did it as far as i know) so before you can have the chicken egg you must have a chicken to lay it.
They need to proof that turtles or snakes dont have that proteins first.
