start by playing some really simple riffs/power chords and growl or sing something that fits the chords.
something that makes everything alot easier is knowing the riff absolutely so you don't have to think of what you're playing, and then just making sounds, words and lyrics come later when it comes easier to you

if you know the lyrics and the beginning riff of opeth - master's apprentices, you can start off with that one a bit later when you've started learning, it's half easy to do
