johan's the guitarist/bassist for andromeda. its real good, and i think i'll order those cds as soon as possible, but to me adagio owns them. thats a definate IMO, i just like adagio's style better. and i dont think they are really the same enough to compare. adagio would never be caught playing anything as major sounding as what i heard from the andromeda audio page. i mean i like it, but its just not up there with adagio for me. everyone should check out andromeda, cuz they are definatley good, though. same goes for adagio, only add a 'really' infront of the 'good'.

this one is very hard, but come to think of it, Stephan Forté is amazing on both Sanctus Ingnis & Underworld, but JR's work in II = I is less amazing than on the Extension of The Wish record, IMO.

Adagio bore the shit out of me....there are 1000 Fortes out there.Very skilled but not doing much in the originality stakes....Andromeda are a far more creative band IMO and Johan has a more definitive musical fingerprint.

i cant stop listening to Andromeda now. im still with Adagio though. Its like Adagio is progmetal + classical, and Andromeda is progmetal + sorta-fusion-ish sounding stuff. two completely different sounds, sytles, and bands, although they both rule.

I just listened to a few songs from them and you really cant compare the 2. Johan is very much into the whole Dream Theater Prog/fusion thing, done well, might I add. And of course Stephen is far more into the classical side of Prog, ala Symphony X. So its really apples and oranges here...

and your sn fits you well too buddy as you are winning the race for biggest clown. I stated an opinion....I have both Adagio albums and i've heard it all before. I never said i was better than Forte...i said Johan had a more original approach.....wasn't that what this thread was about? who was better?and why.
Fuck having to make a PC comment about how they are both as good as each other we shouldn't compare them. Allan Holdsworth rips them both.
As for fucking myself up the ass.....well at least i have the sufficient penis length to pull off such a feat. Now go put your sisters titty back in your mouth you fucking hick.

i have to admit i havent heard that much out of andromeda, what i have heard i like though.. adagio i know very well, so i am perhaps biased in chosing forte. but fortes playing has really stood out for me, i find him an exceptional talent. I'll have to give andromeda more of a chance to really compare.

Forté owns Reinholdz in ALL ways. His technique is far superior, and in my opinion, Reinholdz' phrasing gets really stale and predictable. This might have something to do with Reinholdz improvising versus Forté's compositional approach, but it's the end result that counts, and I find Forté's solos much more musically appealing than Reinholdz'. I also think Forté's songwriting is much more mature, whereas Andromeda's songs often sound like a cut-and-paste orgy of "progressive" licks. A bit like a juvenile version of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension experiment.

I like Andromeda quite a bit, although I think Extension of the Wish is much better than II=I, but I much prefer Forté to Reinholdz as a guitarist, composer and musician. In terms of technique, on the other hand, there is simply no grounds for debate; Forté is downright ÜBER.

I totally love Adagio, but at times Sanctus Ignis seems sorta unoriginal. The guitar solos are very Yngwie-esque. And the vocal melodies seem uninspired at points. They're still one of my favorite bands, though.

I haven't heard enough of Andromeda to say anything about JR.

Andromeda is much more original than Adagio.

That said, 'Extension Of The Wish' > 'Sanctus Ignis' > 'II=I'

...and I still haven't heard 'Underworld' yet *ducks rotten fruit*, but it's in the mail (finally!). I'm expecting much, since I hear it's a lot better than Sanctus.
