Suggestions for good orchestral metal?

Hey guys,

Orchestral metal wise i heard a new band on myspace who are AWESOME, its like really well produced orchestral metal with some cool grooves and stuff

i always get sick of this kinda stuff being ruined by lyrics about dragons and swords of the land haha

Hollenthon- With Vilest of Worms to Dwell

I find it has somewhat of an orchestral feeling at times. Even if it's not exactly what you're looking for, I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Note to self... read ENTIRE post before replying. This is more likely to be orchestral sounding synth... a solid record, regardless!
In what way does it sound synthy? It sounds pretty genuine to me...

Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született

Nothing to do with metal, but it's probably one of the best electronic albums I've heard. Aggressive breakbeat/IDM combined with awesome orchestral samples (Bartok etc.), jazz etc. Very atmospheric, recommended to everyone open-minded.

If it samples Bartok, I'll give it a try! Love Bartok....

haha....this Mekong Delta version of Pictures at an Exhibition is pretty sweet, if a little campy. The musicianship seems plain and vanilla though, I'm accustomed to Yamashita's quite volcanic performance of the piece.

my friend's band heroica (formally known as empiria) might be what you are after

Those guys HAVE TO be checked out ^ absoloutely incredible

but definetly check out:

Somnium Mortuum (symphonic funeral doom)
Illnath (symphonic melodic black)
Enslavement of Beauty (symphonic melodic black)
Eternal Tears of Sorrow (symphonic melodic death)
Fear of Eternity (symphonic black)

i'm a sucker for symphonic/orchestral metal also, and i listen to it the most, i'm a huge sucker for them strings. I have heaps more recommendations, but they are a few of the best imo

Dark Moor and Symphony X have some orchestral moments in their songs. I don't know if it's synth or not. I can't say I like much of Dark Moor's new stuff, though.
