Sunn O)))

I like some of Boris' more atmospheric moments, but Sunn)))O has never done it for me. Earth has some good stuff too.
 
Black One is pretty good, but some of their other stuff is pretty boring for me. The release with Boris is amazing though.
 
i never knew i'd feel this way about sunn o))) but i think i have begun to understand and get into them...shit, i've listened to a lot of creepy ambient stuff in my time but sunn o))) win hands down.

however, i just cant help myself but wonder if these guys go home after a gig of theirs and say, giving each other high fives, "suckers, they paid to see us perform this stupid bullshit live AGAIN!"

do you think these guys are honestly serious about their music? the truth wouldnt matter much, as i've already started enjoying their music, but i just wonder what you guys think. maybe someone who has been to one of their gigs can answer.

hahaha, the band even has some theatrics...throwing the hand back over the shoulder after hitting a chord.

i used to think neurosis would provide the music for the armageddon. now, im confident it will be sun 0))).

You definitely have to be in the mood for Sunn O))). If you aren't in the mood, you will not like it. And the only time you are in the mood is late at night when all of your lights are out and you just want to sit and stare. Then it is perfect.

Has anyone heard My Wall? Hilarious!
 
i always liked earth, the band that these guys are obviously paying homage to, but sunn o))) are much more subtle and harder to get into. i always appreciated the fact that they are very courageous with their own form of art, which is very very VERY uncommercial, but i had never understood how one could enjoy the music itself.

now i do. :hypno:
 
Great, great band. Unfortunately, some people are not patient enough to get it. If you are like me, remember what hapenned with Opeth on your first listenings (I personnally hated Opeth). Don't judge too fast. Oh and you can name others (I've seen above) such as Earth, and every Doom stuff. For the "insane" ones, get into pure drone music, heh.
 
Doesn't require patience, it requires a hit of LSD. SUNNO))) is an audio wash of ambient sounds and noises. This is not music, it's garbage. And I've listened to just about every album they've recorded. Get real,man and realize, these cats are laughing all the way to the bank.

Technically, under the dictionary definition, it is music. Also, it can't be garbage because you can't physically place audio in a trash can. Try harder!
