Well, Sunn0))) aren't really my taste when it comes to drone - I do sometimes wonder how many people have their albums to show how eclectic they are. Earth do that bassy drone style far better in my opinion, but I still can't totally get into it. I much rather stuff like Skullflower, Final or Khanate when it comes to drone-y stuff.

Seriously, what do people hear in this band that can even remotely be called music? If you look at all the genres of music out there, including drone/doom, there is a multitude of absolutely horrid and talentless musicians/artists, whatever you want to call them. I am completely convinced that ANYONE with a fuckin' gimmick can be successful in selling music. I want music to be(what I consider) unique and intelligent, one who is trying to connect with their perceived muse. And then, relay that to the audience through their performance. I guess that's what SUNN)))O do with those who attend their gigs and buy this shit. I would rather walk on broken glass with my tongue than listen to this band. I still think, their laughing all the way to the bank.
what bank, I doubt that they make much if any money off their record sales, or their touring for that matter. I'd be more inclined to say that they make more money off their respective labels (ajna offensive and southern lord), than from sunno)))

i do enjoy their music A LOT when im in that certain mood...thats all there is to it.
you know we are talking about sun o))), not kiss. gene simmons said on many occasions that he writes music without any feeling, he even has compared himself to a great chef that just isnt fond of the food he cooks for his customers. yet, this doesnt stop me or millions from actually ENJOYING kiss' music. you know we do not have an on/off button on ourselves thats stops us savoring a certain kind of art because its creator is a total asshole or a sell-out or a fascist or whatever you have no sympathy for.
what im basically saying is i would still enjoy sunn o)))'s music even if they came out tomorrow and said that they had been fooling everyone all this time. i would feel betrayed, but that wouldnt change my opinion on the art work, which i always feel is independent from its artist.
you have brought light on a very old discussion on what is art and what is not.
is this art? some people think so.
you come up with your own gimmick and sell your own art. yes, it's that easy. it's the "coming up with a gimmick" part thats kinda hard.

Now, this is a rebuttal/post I can appreciate and respect. What art is or what art isn't is obviously very subjective. In this regard, it would seem to me , that there is no right or wrong. The adage-"There is no accounting for taste" appears to apply.
