I think in general though, I lean towards the yanks. That whole Florida scene did the business.

Hmm. That's a tough call, really. I think i have to lean towards Florida, ultimately, as well. Why don't we determine what is the single best album from each scene and have a vote-off.

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Entombed - Left Hand Path

Not necessarily the best, but perhaps a good ambassador for each scene.

And in this case again, I would choose Altars.

i looked over my collection and the swedes or euopeans vastly outnumbered the yanks. necrophobic, EoS, AtG, sentenced, hypocrisy, asphyx, amorphis...vs just The Chasm, Nile...it's really a nobrainer. this means i need to re-discover autopsy, morbid angel, and incantation.

So yeah, I went with the swedes, but in retrospect, that may not have been completely fair... I mean, Death, Suffocation and Morbid Angel! Also, I have been under the impression that The Chasm should still be considered Mexican. If I had thought otherwise, my vote would surely have been different.

I've been listening quite a bit to this the past months, by the way.
