At The Gates and Dismember are two of my favs. Swedes all the way. Didnt actually get into the American scene til much , much later.

i really liked the early Euro DM ... there was some great stuff coming out of there, Entombed, Unleashed, Asphyx ... but nothing really as HUGE as MA or Death ... or Suffocation ... or Obituary ...

i looked over my collection and the swedes or euopeans vastly outnumbered the yanks. necrophobic, EoS, AtG, sentenced, hypocrisy, asphyx, amorphis...vs just The Chasm, Nile...it's really a nobrainer. this means i need to re-discover autopsy, morbid angel, and incantation.

this has changed. im sticking with the home team after (re)discovering autopsy, obituary, death, morbid angel, atheist, immolation, INCANTATION (FUCKING RULES!), Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Nocturnus, Massacre, and newcomers like Deathevokation.

speaking of swedish metal, i went to the Century Media store and saw the re-release of all of comecon's albums on a 2CD release. i know petrov did vocals on one, van drunen on another and the morgoth dude on the other. are these worth grabbing if ive got entombeds 1st 2 and dismembers debut?

comecon were never a popular namedrop like the other two

I think the first album is really good, and the second is pretty good as well, but I've never heard the third one. Really straightforward and simplistic, but effective.

I would agree that the first is pretty good. I never heard anything beyond that so I'm not much help there.

ive never heard malevolent creation. i know papajosh loves them. are they more of the same, though?

It amazing a once great scene from america turned in metalcore........for shame. Death, Cannibal, morbid, obituary, and deicide are amazing, but.....I still give it to the swedes simply for the fact that I go back to the swede DM more often
