Caught the train up to Melbourne for a little metal indulgence.
I picked up a few nice ones too. (went to JBHiFi aswell)

Transatlantic - Bridges Across Forever
The double cd version, packaged as a booklet. Should be interesting, although 26 minutes song usually excite me as much as a violent hangover. Hopefully this is an exception.

Blind Gaurdian - Nightfall In Middle Earth
Got this for 2 reasons. I've suddenly developed a taste for 'Power Metal', thanks mainly to *Lost Horizon. Also I've been reading Lord Of The Rings, and this is close... Plus I've had Into The Storm on MP3 for a while, and like it.

Union - The Blue Room
Summer is coming, and I need some summer music. This is in the vain of Slash's Snakepit. With John Corabi on vocals, and Bruce Kulick on guitar, you can't really go wrong. Good solid, heavy rock.

Psi-Kore - Psi-Kore[/b]
What can I say.. I wanted to relive some of that feeling from the Megadeth concert. Psi-Kore were great and I like to support the locals. Only $13 too!

Maybe I should do this more often :). Although Mr Visa may probably think otherwise.

*BUY Lost Horizon, 'Awakening The World'. Debut album from Swedish Metallers. Utterly fantastic - if you can get past the "Manowar'esk" lyrics and theme. (but that just adds to the show!

This is my first Blind Gaurdian album, so we'll see how it goes first. I got Demons and Wizards a while back, which is cool.

Cool? Just cool? Its a damn sight more than just cool young man, its close to freaking freezing. One might even say Iced. Ha. I am so unfunny im funny.

NIME took me AGES to get into, I quite like it now though in a totally over the top power metal way, mirror mirror and blood tears are fab as is most of the rest of it!

Psi-kore RULE. Nuff said :)

Got the union cd as well, didnt do much for me, not a patch on hair of the dogs rise album, which none of you have. Even though you should. You really really should.

Transatlantic.......hmmmm prog rock....I am undecided on Dream Theater still, and pretty much every single prog band out there has some connection to them (John Petruccis dog on drums or whatever) Whats it like??

I didnt get ANYTHING this fortnight because stupid utopia were doing stupid renovations. Pricks.

Let me know what this is like compared to the first one. I was very pleasantly surprised by it - I was afraid it'd be non-stop prog, but there were actually some songs on it, and I really liked it. Made me get into Spock's Beard a bit, for which I'm eternally grateful.

haha..... John Petrucci's dog on drums..
LOL... thats gold Jerry...... GOLD !!

AAhh Seinfeld.

Umm yeah, I wanna get the double Transatlantic. If JBHIFI in Parra have it, I might make a trip tommorrow.... awesome!!

I have an MP3 of their version of Shine on you crazy Diamond, which is pretty much like the original, but its still an amazing song!

Mad, that song is eerily awesome!! I have to see if I can also snare the MP3!

I've had a couple of listens to the new Hair Of The Dog at CC Music in town. The only reason I've done this is because what you and Troops have said about them. I'm still deciding whether to get it or not.

I havn't had the time to listen to anything more than a cuople of songs of each CD I bought (and half a song from Transatlantic)

To early to make an opinion on any of them yet.

Goreripper! Champion! Please tell everyone how fantastically great the album is and that they should all go buy it! (That is, if you do think that? Which you do......right??)

:D

Spawn and Sydo, "The Blue Room" rules!! This was one of my favourite albums of last year and it didn't leave my CD player for months. Yes, I admit I bought it because I'm a major Bruce Kulick fan, but even if I had no idea who he was I'm sure I would still have loved it. John Corabi's voice is great too. He has a big impact on so many great songs eg Do Your Own Thing, Dead, Everything's Alright, Shine and Who Do You Think You Are (even my mum likes this one for some reason).

The only gripe I have with it is that, unlike the first Union album, it doesn't have any Led Zeppelin III- style acoustic tracks, but with all the great solos, singalong choruses and top-notch production from Bob Marlette, I can almost forgive them :).

Union were (or maybe still are, I hear they're back together touring South America right now) the last great hope for good time rock n' roll.

Still can't find Rise, or any other Hair of The Dog album for that matter. I'm going shopping on Friday so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I still haven't checked out Rise... *Hides*

My album shopping has been mainly vinyl lately :)

Dio - Holy Diver ($5 perfect nick.... way better than on CD!)
Kiss - Dynasty ($1, cover is worn but record is fine, already had it on CD)
Def Leppard - On Through The Night ($1, cover is worn but record is fine)

That was my last haul, I was gonna go record shopping again today but I'm too sick to go out :(

Perhaps I should buy stuff I don't already have on CD...

I wanna get the rest of the 70s Sabbath albums on vinyl, and old Alice Cooper and Priest, and Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged In, just coz that cover needs to be in my collection REALLY BIG, unline on CD hahaha! It's a shocker :)

John Corabi has a new solo album out, 'The Scream'.
I've heard 1 song, Catch Me If You Can and it sounds a lot like Union. I think you can download it from Spitfire Records

Why thank you Sydo, you are a champion, I already have it though :D Its NOWHERE near the standard of the stuff on rise in my opinion! Rise is one of the greatest hard rock records ive ever heard, I hope you can find it wrathy, I KNOW you will love it because you seem to enjoy kiss a little bit and HOTD is basically kiss crossed with van halen and aerosmith :) Play spot the influence if you get the cd, they are all over the place

Troops: Vinyl rules! Ive got the 5 LP picture disc collection of Alive In Athens, they look so cool! So do the maiden ones I have, picture discs ROCK! I wish they were still made and available easily, cd sounds better usually, but its just so much more un cool than an LP :)
Im still trying to track down the demons and wizards gatefold picture disc LP thing and all the other Iced Earth albums as well, they all look rather good artwork wise!
