The year is running out and I figured I'd make a topic for once. So everybody list whatever stuff you think rocked or sucked this year and maybe we can make some sort of compiled list a bit later in december. EPs counts, singles don't. Points will go as follows:
1- 12 points
2- 10 points
3- 9 points
4- 8 points
5- 7 points
6- 6 points
7- 5 points
8- 4 points
9- 3 points
10- 2 points
And then you're able to list as many other great bands as you'd like which will all get 1 point each. You're of course able to edit your post at any time up until it's all compiled into one big ultimate list of doom, near the end of december or something.
If you think something sucked or was a big dissapointment, you're able to list those and they will all get -2 points each.
Okokokok, I'll show how it's done.
1. TURISAS - THE VARANGIAN WAY
The very definition of epic fucken metal. Has everything and a little more.
2. Therion - Gothic Kabbalah
Beats Paradise Lost cuz it doesn't have a single weak track-
3. Symphony X - Paradise Lost
-whereas Paradise Lost actually had a few. The songs that aren't, are among the best they've ever made though.
4. Threshold - Dead Reckoning
I hope they have as solid songwriting for the next one (with Damien Wilson) as they had with this one.
5. Sieges Even - Paramount
Never thought they'd be able to create the same unique sound as on The Art..., but they did and this time on better songs. Best effort yet.
6. Nightingale - White Darkness
Not as good as Invisible, but nearly.
7. The Vision Bleak - The Wolves Go Hunt Their Prey
A gay fucken "goth" metal band, but the songs are so god damn catchy I can't sit still.
8. Moonspell - Anno Satanae
This is actually a rerecording of some old demos and shit, but it's fantastic. This stuff is way better than anything else they've done.
9. Porcupine Tree - Nil Recurring (EP)
"The stuff that didn't make it onto the CD", yet is twice as good.
10. Rush - Snakes and Arrows
Except for their classics, I don't care much about their previous efforts. This one however, kicks ass.
Good
(the stuff that gets 1 point each):
Ensiferum - Victory Songs
Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
King Diamond - Give my your soul please
Shit
(aka crap aka poop, gets -2 points):
Avantasia - Lost in Space
This has to be the shittiest shitty crap album ever. I guess Avantasia is going the same way Edguy went (to gay hell that's where ahahrhfhdhfsdhrlolol).
Gamma Ray - Land of the Free II
Oh maaan what a big dissapointment. What a huge step down from Majesty.
The list will get longer, and there are still some albums yet to be heard (Dark Empire for example), which may very well even jump into the top 10.
And by the way, there's no need for flashy bold text and writing something about every album, I just did it because I don't know.
If you don't remember if an album was released this year write it down anyway, you can edit it later after the bandwagon of nerds point it out.
