Oh, HELL yes! This is one of my favorite bands, and I've never had the chance to see them live.

On a side note, I was wearing a SymX shirt at the Van Helsing's Curse show last weekend...and Denny Colt commented on it as I was going through the M&G line. She said that her band had opened for them overseas a while back.

I did, and unless you have somethinig mind blowing to pull out of your hat, I'd still like to see them at PP. Perhaps you could use your influence to make it some kind of "special" show (What's Jorn doing around Sept. 2007?) :)

Absolutely!

Meanwhile, back in reality, I haven't voted and don't plan to, since my vote is also an ambivalent one. I really like SX and saw them at PP 1 and every PP since, when they've played....and I really missed them when they had to skip the Atlanta Gigantour date. But....hearing news of a possible, thorough US tour between now and PP makes me even less likely to be whooping with joy......

HOWEVER.....if they could play some sort of special set, or record a DVD, or pull some other magic out of their hat, I'd be all for it. There are a lot of bands that I'd rather see at PP (some returnees, some not), but SX did help put PP on the map, and a special show from them would be even more special on 'our' stage.

If they were going to do a full US tour I think there are ample opportunities for them to do somthing special for PP. An orchestra is obviously an option, and with any band that has good orchestration always sounds awesome. But with the mention of Nevermore doing a Dreaming Neon Black set last year (before the whole mess), springs the idea of having Symphony X doing all of The Odyssey perhaps?

Fixed

Either way, I would love to see Symphony X at ProgPower because even if they do a full US tour, there's a realistic chance that Atlanta would be skipped anyway.

I'm sure they'll tour, but I doubt it'll be "full" by any means. Is there something you'd like to tell us Glenn? :D

Even if its not a full tour, I'm sure they'll hit either Santa Anna or Los Angeles if not both... either way I would still love to see SX at Prog Power! :D

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I don't want to see them play Atlanta again.

I love the band and have been fortunate enough to see them (literally) ten times now. I also anticipate a tour in 2007 with a NY date or two (again, I'm spoiled and will admit it).

I'd rather see someone else "headline" one of the nights in Atlanta.

ProgPower thrives on many things, but "exclusivity" may be its biggest selling point. I can't imagine SX returning to PP without doing something extremely exclusive, and thus setting it far apart from any show one might see on a SX tour. Hypothetically speaking, were SX to perform V in its entirety, I think that might qualify as exclusive. They certainly have the catelog to deliver with something really special. This would be the perfect time/place.

While I do like SX a great deal, and I've been lucky enough to see them live twice, I still would rather see bands we haven't seen yet. That's just my opinion and not an invitation to those who'd love to flame me.

I agree with you and AngraRules on this...there are many other bands I would rather see headlining that haven't even made it to PP yet. Plus, I never latched onto Odyssey. They just didn't seem to deliver on that release IMO. I'm hoping for better on the new one.

I was with you up until this point...lol.

Gamma Ray didn't play Chicago. Ha. Got you.

Ken

They didn't play anywhere in the south either. I had to fly to Minnesota to see them and fulfill a dream.

I just think that overall the people that were lucky enough to be a part of PPUSA from the beginning and the people who are lucky enough to live in an area where bands that play 10 city or less "tours" should be a little bit more considerate of others who aren't as fortunate.

To be perfectly honest, I've see Symphony X 3 times now (w/Blind Guardian, PPIV and Gigantour), each time they were awesome and I'm sure they will be whenever I see them again next time. That said, if they're at PPVIII - great, if not - it won't make much difference to me, I'll just enjoy another band. But as for the poll, I voted "YES" because the people who haven't had the chance to see them yet deserve to!

I will be there next year and traveling from the Netherlands for the first time to come to Atlanta. Symphony X playing next year would be a HUGE bonus and a great incentive!

Honestly, I didn't think about that possibility (they've only been down to South FL once), as I voted before reading the posts, but I STILL would have voted YES, even if I thought about that, while voting! I've only seen them twice, although it would have been 4, if they didn't cancel twice. But even if I had seen them 4 or even 10 times, I'd still want to see them headline at PPVIII!

You could never go wrong with Symphony X. One of my favorite bands. With that said, I would like to see something special rather than just an ordinary show. And I would kill to see Damian Wilson in any format, especially together with Russell doing some Star One!!!

Maybe we could get Threshold as well and just have Damian come over as a guest and sing some tunes with his old band as well as with Russell. Can i dream?
I REALLY like your thinking! Couple that with having Stream of Passion on the roster and when they cover Ayreon/Star One material, it will be even better!

i didn't. of course, if they were to do a full US tour i'd rather see someone else at PP. ive seen these guys once at gigantour, but they only got to play about 4 five minutes songs, so seeing them for an hour or so would be fantastic.

HELL YES

I am with Braxil - the 'rain out' here in West Palm Beach was majorly dissapointing.... AND me and my buddies had been up in Orlando the day before for that Gigantour show and got there late, missing 3/4s of Symph X's set......

But I am ALWAYS up for seeing these guys again no matter what.
:notworthy  :kickass:

If I can only make two observations:

-Again, they need to change up the set list a bit more
(then again, if they play 'Through The Looking Glass', they could play 'My Sharona' and I wouldn't give a flying monkey shit....)

-The mix at PP4 (as I'm sure has been stated numerous times before, was
WAY too flipping loud.....)

SYMPH X IN '07!!

OK i just now listened to the song "Frontiers" off of The Odyssey and this is EXCELLENT. Reminds me of a Heavy Metal KANSAS. I'm gonna have to get one of their albums for sure now. And i say YES to them playing PP8.
