OK i just now listened to the song "Frontiers" off of The Odyssey and this is EXCELLENT. Reminds me of a Heavy Metal KANSAS. I'm gonna have to get one of their albums for sure now. And i say YES to them playing PP8.

Listen to "Of Sins and Shadows", thank me later.

I voted yes for The Symphony to come back to pp. Ive seen them 7 times and the 8th needs to be a special show. This could consist of songs form Damnation Game and the first album. Maybe film a DVD or something fun like that. I love Symphony X but I'd be very disapointed if they played the same shit we have all seen over and over.

Post deleted.

******Sorry Greykiller. That was just a bit too inflamatory for me to leave up.

I'm abstaining because I don't feel strongly either way. I'd like to see them play, but not necessarily at ProgPower; I can see them whenever they tour again. I'd rather see a band play the fest that I might not be able to see on tour.

EDIT: now that I've read all the replies in this thread, and it looks like they're definitely doing a full tour next year, I've decided to vote no. I can't think of any type of "special" headlining set that I'd care to see by them; definitely, if they decided to do all of V like was already suggested, then I would be off to the parties.

How many of you that voted yes thought about the possiblity of SX doing a full U.S. tour early next year?

I did, and I still want to see them at PP.

Having never seen the band, i would like too..but if they are going to tour the US that takes away from their appearance at PP.

Even if they do Venom, PP can be a special apperance. That and even if they do a tour, it doesn't mean it will hit a number of places.

Heck Evergrey did a US tour, but people were still looking forward to seeing them, and seeminly loved that they were there.

But since SX is from the US, they tour here more often than Evergrey. I would be open to some kind of special performance just like Evergrey had this year. :Smokin:

If the Kansas thing hooked you, then listen to Communion and the Oracle on the myspace page.

OK, i really dig that one too. I downloaded a partial song at their site called Inferno (unoeash the fire) that sounds like a completley different band. Is Russell Allen the only lead singer in the band? Because on that song it sounds like a different singer all together, i prefer the vocals on "Frontiers" and "Communion and the oracle". I really dig the KANSAS vibe i get from some of these songs.

P.S Listening to songs on MYSPACE really sucks when you have Dial-Up.

Yeah, Russell is the only lead singer in the band. They had a different one for their first album, but he was only on that album. Russell's been the singer for the rest.

I voted yes for a coupla reasons:

1. I only was able to see three songs from SymX on the Gigantour because they went onstage earlier than they were supposed to and they apparently only played 5 songs total anyway, so it was more of a teaser set than a full "experience."

2. To answer Glenn's question: I didn't know about the possibility of a "full tour," but seeing as how Evergrey participated in a "full tour" through the states this year and the closest they came to Dallas (and Texas as a whole) was Tulsa I'm not optimistic that SymX would make a stop here either.

P.S. I miss Glenn's old avatar. It was mostly bright yellow and really easy to identify his posts when scrolling through pages and pages of comments. While it's a cool picture, it doesn't stand out as much... but then again, maybe that's the point. :)

I voted because I really want to see them, and they have a new album coming out. If they are doing a full US tour, Maybe someone else would be better unless its the first night and something really special planned.

I'm kind of conflicted about having them back again for PP8. Yeah it would be great to see them again, but if there's the possibility of someone just as good headlining next year's show (who has never played PPUSA before), maybe it would be cooler and build even more anticipation for something special at a PP10 "Best of PPUSA" anniversary kind of show.

This is of course assuming that the album will come out before september. They haven't exausted every negative thing that CAN happen just yet.
