i've been fiddling with this mix for a few days now, don't really know what i should be improving now. when i listen to it, i feel content with it. but when i start comparing it to any other tracks. i feel that this mix lacks clarity and volume?. trying to achieve that i put a +3db very wide notch at 3000 on the master, but still, i feel theres a lot of room for improvement. this is the first song we're recording for our bands new album and it's going to define the overall sound of the album

c1 used for vocals, guitar passive ibanez double tracked hard panned
monitored on krk5

any tips for making it more present, what do you think about it?

should be streamable, sorry cant upload to your usual upload service, got a gprs connection only. pls listen guys and comment
our bands future depends on you :notworthy

Thanks! I guess youre right about the tone. It's two tracks hard panned, podfarm with
criminal amp with all knobs dialed up to 10(except volume), screamer with no tweaking. different cab on either side, v30 and75 off axis. Just can't manage to get a good tone that would sit in there. It's either to fizzy or lacks gain and chugs turn to dead notes. I'll continue tweeking and post something later on when I'll feel like getting closer.

As for the 8-bit sounds we wan't to keep them as raw as possible to stay true. Can't think of any other way of blending them except for just leveling. :D

With Podfarm you've really gotta back the gain off to eliminate the harshness. My Podfarm chain is usually TS default, JCM 800 default (but ditch the compressor) and back the gain off on the amp to about 35.

Don't forget to low pass afterwards- somewhere around 9-12KHz should eliminate some of the unnecessary fizz. I usually brighten things up around 2.5-3KHz as well.

Cool synths though man!

Guitar tone sounds a lot better after the HP/LP but they're still a little boomy. Maybe a Multi-band the keep that tamed a tad. Have to tried adding a little 'verb to the syths to help them gel? Nothing too crazy, but an early reflections type patch Bring it up until you can barely hear it in the mix, and the back it off a notch. . . Just a suggestion.
