tech 21 d drive into impulse file

hey guys has anyone tried plugging into one of the tech 21 dd pedals stright into an impulse ?

I was thinking about buying one of the pedals but was wondering if it would be worth it for use with impulse files.

im sure splatt mentioned he used this pedal but i think he also plugged into a 5150 then into the impulse.

It would sound good if you're only looking for a bluesy overdrive sound. I use that pedal like a tubescreamer in front of an amp, not just by itself. There's some samples on their website of what the pedal sounds like by itself.

hmm probably not what im after then, could anyone recommend a good tube distortion pedal for this ?

cant afford a 6505 at the mo so lookin for an alternative for going stright into the impulse files.
