TECH DEATH MIX FOR YOU TO TRY

i really like this guitar sound, really full, punchy sound but there is some mega clipping going on behind it. MEGA clipping.

Yeah, I just noticed that, I was screwing around with some insane settings on the compressors and forgot to turn them off before rendering, their output meters showed something like +5 dB lol. I'll work on it a bit more tomorrow and I'll post a new version, this time with the vox, which I also forgot.

also, is it just me or is the right louder than the left?

this was recorded excellently, mixing was a breeze.

I'm sure my mix could use a little feedback, but give it a once-over, and let me know what you think.

guitars sound a bit thin, and are you using the chamber mic on Metal Foundry?

the solo is already processed, im afraid i dont have the dry files for that but i think you've put it through an amp model. it sounds compressed at least.

i just spoke to the guy who sang on this track, he said the files im using here are old versions and he's going to send me the ones where he didn't cup the mic, i think he just used a condenser for the whole thing.

yeah, it was like a really quick 10-minute mix.
might go and re-work it. :)

and yes, the guitars are a little thin. was trying to make everything fit in, frequencywise.

i have time now, so i'll try and go perfect it.

Quick mix reamped through a peavey rockmaster + impulses, no boost

And another mix with 5150 sim from TH2 using matching eq to sound similar to peavey rockmaster, tse808 as boost

Same post procesing. Guitars are clipping a bit due to a tube saturation in the master

Mainly the same, a bit more organic the real deal...But I couldn't tell what is the real preamp in a blind test

these are sweet! i particularly dig the second one. have you altered the drum sound? im having trouble hearing them anyway. id love to hear this mixed with the guitar sound you've got with louder drums. very impressed

edit: i prefer the first one now, and i can hear the drums sounding nice too but too quiet

Haha I don't know what I prefer, they sound near the same :loco: I will say rockmaster because I have taken 20 minutes in reamping them :D

Glad you like it.

I agree with the drumsound.
Original drums are mixed at 50% with first preset I found in Superior Drumer 2.0.

When I have time I can make them sound better. This night or tomorrow I'll post a new version.

Thanks for sharing the track. It's fucking awesome!!

here is my try:

i don`t hava a programm for midi-drums, so i had to use the included wave-drum-mix.

thanks a lot, this is really fun! :)

this is cool. i'm not one to give advice cos my mixes were shit but i can hear the high end of the bass above everything else in this and the guitars sound quite weak. i know everyone says you should have quite low gain for techy stuff but i'd say turn it up a bit for this or multitrack them perhaps. otherwise i feel like its too staccato.
