Yeah, that's what I mean. It has nothing to do with Swedish and German being Germanic languages, rather with influences. English, as a Germanic language, is highly influenced by the French language in its vocabulary and orthography.

I'm still learning the language. But I stopped learning a while ago since I wanted to concentrate on school issues. In may, when I will have finished school, I'll surely continue learning Swedish 
I started with a book from the library. "Swedish in 30 Days" or so. It helped me a lot! I've been in Sweden during my summer vacations in 2005 and I got along. But it's still quite difficult for me to understand the spoken word. It's very abstract.
When I learn, I learn via teaching books and watching Swedish TV on www.svt.se

that svt is a great idea...so far the only spoken swedish i was exposed to was a few movies and vintersorg and Dag Swanö(formally known as Tom Nouga) songs in swedish.
