just wondering what people think is the #1 most awesomely produced song ever. i know it's a hard question and your probably can't choose one, but just throw some ideas out there

i know who the best producer is

its mutt lange

edit: he currently holds the record for most producer achievements, and i consider that to make him "the best"

p.s. producing is mostly considered to be any action taken to bring out the best possible character, performance, and quality of an artist.

Are we talking about just the sonics, or the production aspect as a whole i.e not just the sonics, but the actual production process proper as well?

I am referring to just the sonics. Not necessarily what they have achieved, how many albums they sold etc... You could nominate your self for the best produced song. I just mean, in your opinion, what song/songs do you feel have the best sound you've heard? ie it is probably a sound that you would strive to emulate to an extent

you're talking about mixing then

and on that note, i'll say that chris lord alge is the best mixing engineer in my opinion

i guess i mean mixing as well... ill sum it up and just say the final product...whatever that means to you haha

Top 5??
Arch Enemy - My Apocalypse
The Absence - Riders of the Plague
At the Gates - Need
Jace Everett - Bad Things
Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver

Skinny Puppy - The Greater Wrong Of The Right sounds ace to me, altho It's not my fav song wise.

You probably wanted metal tho.

I Like Jens Bogren ala Opeth & Katatonia.

Since we are talking mixing:

Metal: Dokken - Dream Warriors

Pop: Michael Jackson - Another Part Of Me / Leave Me Alone (Cant choose which one i like the most.)

Hiphop/rap: Snoop Dogg - Tha Shiznit (Seriously, oldschool stuff is awesome!)

I know melodic death is Teh Ghey and all, but Edge of Sanity - Crimson II.

Non-metal-wise, I'd be tempted to agree with Catharsis. Some of her songs are pretty retarded, but they sound ridiculous.

Something off the Black album probably for me - not sure one is better than the other, but that album is my baseline for great sounding albums/songs.
