The Bland Commercialisation?

i rekon its a great song live. it has such at great beat to it. constant and think. great to listen to in my opinion. i dont see why people bag it so much either.

imo they shouldn't have to reduce the songs. but in reality a video won't get played unless its a certain length, so unfortunately the band didn't have much of a choice. i, for one, would have highly preferred the first 4 minutes of Ghost of Perdition, even if the story is unfinished.

long videos get played, look at Michael Jackson vids, not to mention One by metallica and November rain by GnR.
I personally think that they had no real reason to reduce it, I mean since when has Opeth tried to cater to the masses?

They did make a shorter version of One though, and Michael Jackson could basically do anything he wanted while he was at his prime.

I think those long videos got played because the artists were more popular than Opeth.

I would like to remind everyone that Opeth have yet to cater for the masses. Roadrunner do. And i believe that this has helped Opeth. But Opeth wont directly change themselves for roadrunner. They are plenty popular without doing that.

surely if they didn't like the video, they could have told roadrunner not to release it though if Roadrunner doesn't control any of their descions.
For example, Metallica didn't make any music videos until one just for the simple fact that they didn't feel they could do one justice. (excuse the pun)
When the One video was made, they agreed that if they weren't completely happy with it, they wouldn't release it so my question is why did Opeth let Roadrunner release something they weren't entirely happy with...?

THE BANNED CONVERSATION
THE PLANNED CONDEMATION
THE OUSTANDING RECOMMENDATION
THE HAND MASTURBATION
THE UNMANNED SPACESTATION

Outstanding doesn't rhyme with grand. Othwise good effort. You have redeemed yourself :)

The Hand Discolouration
The Canned Ejaculation
The Underhand Urination
The Manned Alsation
The Banned Cultivation
The Unplanned Castration

I'm thinking of putting together a concept album. I already have three of the tracks.

Hours of Health
The Banned Defecation
Constipation Years

I'm going to make a concept album too:

Roast Of Flatulation
The Belching Knows No Bounds
The Grand Constipation
Deliverance (The Grand Constipation Pt. 2)
Faeces Of Melinda (The Grand Constipation Pt. 3)

unfortunately i don't think the music video channels see opeth in the same way they see michael jackson or metallica.

Maybe they should change their name to Mopeth?

I guess we dont know what was in the contracts. Plus i think it was already paid for n stuff so, may aswell release it.

I love the song because of the energy in it. When Mikael does that long scream and then bellows "Thhheee Grraaannndd CCCCoonnnjuuuurrraaaattiiioon," I just want to break out moshing.
