The concerts thread

I too just saw CoB, Eluveitie and Revocation.

It was a decent concert, met with Chrigel, he's a great guy.
And took a few pictures with Henkka, Janne, and Jaska.

my Eluveitie shirt was $25 as well. and what really pisses me off is that I got an extra small and my boyfriend got a large and it was the same price. Yeah, I get that that's the case for most things but come on, my t-shirt was half the size of his!

Saw Aborted last night, with 03 Brazilian bands opening (which I missed btw).

Crazy fucking Belgians, they put the venue down with their set. Amazing performance. Songs off "Global Flatline" work damn well live, they also played a few songs off "The Archaic Abbatoir", one of my favorite Aborted albums. Overall, a jaw-dropping show, well worth the money.

Cool guys, they left the stage after the show and came down to grab a few beers with us. :kickass:

I agree that the prices get higher and higher. Concert tickets are getting more and more expensive. I also want to buy t-shirts or sweatshirts, but the prices are so high that I really have to think twice if I want to invest the money for it :(

I saw:
Nightwish
Sonata Arctica
Judas Priest
Status Quo
Iron Maiden
Children of Bodom
Lordi
Dimmu Borgir
Opeth
Ensiferum
Korpiklaani

I am undecided on whether I should go to one day or all three days.

Attended a black metal show last night featuring Six Million Dead, Insentient and another band whose name I did not catch. Local openers were In the Flesh and Spun in Darkness. Fairly good show, but like most underground shows in Vegas it was drawn out too long. The show started at 8 and Six Million Dead didn't start playing until after 1 A.M. By that time everyone seemed ready to leave. Six Million Dead were good, but they cut their set short for obvious reasons.

I planned on seeing Spellcaster tonight, but decided to pass after seeing the venue. The place looked sketchy and dangerous.

Monday I caught Last Chance to Reason, Volumes, Goatwhore and Dying Fetus. First two were... ehhhh... Goatwhore was fucking kickass as always, and HOLY SHIT did Dying Fetus tear it up. When you hear that madness out of full concert amps, it's incredible.

Watch Trey Williams while he plays. I've never seen a drummer look like he's in so much pain.

You know how everyone bitches that guys trigger their drums because they can't play without them? Trey proves that's bullshit because even though he's triggered, he still hits his kicks so fucking hard that the entire kit shakes. Even at top speed, you can see his rack toms quaking, it's nuts.

This Saturday going to see The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, Skeletonwitch, and Hour of Penance. Going mostly for Nile, but it will be a fun show methinks.

Saw As They Sleep and Nightshade Wednesday night. A good show but very low turnout.

Thursday night I saw Huntress at the same venue. I was really impressed with their performance. Keep an eye/ear out for Huntress this year. Their debut album comes out in May and I will definitely be buying it.

Last night I saw Prong downtown at a place in the Fremont Street Experience. Prong played a great long set. Lots of songs from Beg to Differ and a couple of new songs.

Saw Amon Amarth last night, for the first time.

Very good show, the venue was packed like never before. T-Shirts looked great and prices were decent, got one for myself. I was expecting for a lot of old stuff, they've played a lot of new songs and a few of the old. It was a fun gig anyways.

Opeth will be playing at the same venue next week.

So I'm maybe going to see Earth tonight, if i manage to get there for free thanks to a friend of mine. I have never heard the band but I'm interested. I will check some of their music in a while to see if I should be stoked for it. Also, I'm attending Aesahaettr / Thantifaxath on 8.4., which are underground canadian black metal bands touring EU. Thantifaxath released a tape on Dark Descent. It kinda pissed me off that the only information available on it states that "it's kinda similar to Wolves In the Throne Room, but heavier". Every time you as a manager want to get people to a black metal concert, just mention fucking WITTR, hipsters will come like fucking bees thinking "oh this has to be the intelligent black metal then, right?". What's the fucking connection with this band and hipsters.
